this bespoke hat is a mossy douglas fir adorned with turkey tails, a cluster of wee white mushrooms, encircled by fruiting pacific blackberry and visited by two plump bumblebees. she was lovingly brought to life through the magical technique of wet-felting and inspired by the wild and vibrant pacific west coast environment that i am so grateful to call home.

countless times i have escaped barefoot into the forest seeking its assistance in bringing me back into my body, regulating my nervous system, humbling me with awe and hope. even in the worst times it has yet to let me down. i wanted to create a hat that embodied a glimpse of this sensory experience, to evoke the rich loamy air, cool damp earth, dizzying density of life.  when i look at this hat i am reminded of what is important, what is true… interconnectedness and belonging and the power of home.
